Journal #11
Ethics and values describe the morals in which one lives by. I feel as though I have a solid set of values and ethics for that matter. However, they would take quite a while to explain fully. My definition of the two are pretty simple. To me, ethics stand for a set a rules per say that you think are right. Values stand for things that are important to you such as hard work. For instance, one of my values is indeed hard work. It is very important to me that one works hard at just about everything they do. This really stands out to me, and I respect the person more for it. This is kind of a funny trait of mine though because I also consider this one of my highest ranked ethics. I think that hard work is a virtue of mine, and I think it is very important to work hard and show pride in your work. Actually, every time I hear the word ethics, I think of the show "The Office." I love the show "The Office." It is super funny with a great plot. Anyway, there is an episode about ethics. Michael Scott, one of the main characters on the show, broke a lot of rules in the office world, so the human resources guy in the office must have a meeting to discuss business ethics. Obviously, Michael Scott acts like a child. Boy, I really do love that show. Antoher television program that demonstrates ethics and values is the show "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." I think this is my favorite show ever, but it demonstrates bad morals and ethics to have. I can remember the last episode I watched was titled "The Gang Buys a Boat." During this episode, the two buyers of the boat, Dennis and Mac, just want to go to rich people parties instead of doing the hard work. Of course, these two characters exhibit poor work ethics.
