Journal #13

School spirit is always a fun thing to have. I have spirit, yes I do; I have spirit; how about you? It's currently homecoming week in Pleasant Plains High School, and that means a couple things. It means that every day there is a new theme for the school day. For example, today is eighties day, the best day. I am dressed in a purple spandex jumpsuit, bright green shorts, wristbands, a sequined gold headband, sunglasses, and a nice jacket. I look good. I have seen a lot of people that dressed up today, but I am sure our class will lose yet again. The junior class apparently is not into school spirit, and therefore, they are not into winning. I am simply not a big fan of that aspect. We are juniors in the high school, and that means we should be right up there competing with the senior class. However, some people decide that they are too cool to participate in spirit week, so while some cool people are dressed up and looking good, like this guy, others just watch and laugh because they do not want to be embarrassed. Maybe that is the reason and cause in which some people do not participate in spirit week because they do not want to be embarrassed. I think I am on to something with that. A lot of people are self-conscious about how they look normally, and if they draw a lot of attention to themselves by wearing ridiculous clothes as I am today, then they will just want to hide in a little shell. I am not worried about what people think of me when I wear ridiculous clothes like I am today because I am just having a good time. I also wear very ridiculous clothes when I go running too. Usually the most ridiculous and flamboyant clothes are the most comfortable and warm for the winter running. Even when I run on the streets around a lot of people, I just feel good about myself because I am running and working out.
