Journal #32
Over the previous winter break out of school at Pleasant Plains High School. I really did have a nice time over this break from school mainly because it was relaxing because I did not have any school. It sounds very boring to most people, but I feel as though I actually learned something about myself. This all happened right after Christmas when my family took a vacation down to Biloxi, Mississippi to see our family members who we do not often see on a regular basis. Anyway, we did stay at their house for the entire trip, but we, at one point, took a short day trip over to Louisiana and more specifically New Orleans, Louisiana. It was a very interesting trip, and this is mainly because the date was one day before new year's eve. Now everybody knows that New Orleans is enormously notorious for its party status especially during their Mardi Gras celebration. However, the new year celebration is a big party all around the world, and of course New Orleans "gets crazy" during this time as well. Anyway, we knew that a lot of people would be fluctuating into the city for this and for the Sugar Bowl college football championship. We were walking around for quite a while during the daytime, and we were having a wonderful time. We met multiple people just out on the street because it seems to me that even the homeless people in New Orleans are very friendly. I think the thing that I learned most during this trip is not to judge a book by its cover as cliche as that sounds. We were lost at almost dusk, and we knew that we needed to get out of the city as quickly as possible. We were talking about this fact while standing on a street corner. A man who appeared to be homeless turned around and first apologized for his eavesdropping, and then he gave us directions how to find our car. At first, we thought this man may even be dangerous, but after talking to him, he was a very nice man proving the point even further that judging people on their appearance is morally wrong.

this is truly a heartwarming story of adventure, courage, and friendship. You, Luke Reynolds, who stared into the face of adversity and overcame all odds during your break, are a hero and deserve to be buried with an american flag wrapped around your coffin. This story represents everything right about a Post Modernism Hero. Truly magnificent. Tell mary I said hi!
