Journal #19

The ideal America is something that is hard to imagine, but of course it would be perfect. I would not want to run this United States, but I would have someone who is truly intelligent, honest, and truthful. It would be almost like the America when our founding fathers first created our government. However, there would also be some great differences. For instance, obesity would certainly not be a problem because there would be guidelines on food in every region. Also, littering would not be a problem because it would be highly illegal. These obviously seem like some novel ideas, but realistically, the problem is the people of the United States. It seems to me that the bulk of today's people are either, very stubborn, stupid, or ignorant. I feel that the people of America are the main problem with society which is kind of ironic because people are society. It is a twisted world in which we live, and changes need to be done. Again, this is realistically impossible because of our backwards system of government and the ridiculous nature of our citizens. There are many people who speak about the ideal America and how bad our country is today, but the truth is, we have a great country. However flawed it may be, we are the only country where the people have such wonderful rights. Personally, if I were to become the new leader of America, I think it would be a tough job to handle. Unrealistically, I would have some fun. I think I would write some sort of formal book of rules or laws. I would title it "Laws, Follow Them," and everybody would be forced to follow them. I would solve the problem of ignorant and stubborn people by putting them all in Alcatraz. It would not exactly be a tyrannical rule, but it would be like a nicer version of Big Brother. More big problems would come my way such as a large amount of homeless people and a large amount of starving people especially in other countries. I would develop the ingenious plan of making cannibalism legal, killing all the homeless people, and sending them as food to the starving people in those other countries. This way I would kill three birds with one stone. I would take care of my homeless problem, solve the hunger crisis, and I would then be viewed as a great peacemaker and problem solver in the United Nations.
